Hackney, London / Greater London

The London Borough of Hackney is an inner London Borough within Greater London. It is to the north-east of the City of London; and neighboured by the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, to the south; Islington to the west; Haringey to the north. On the east, the River Lee forms the boundary with Waltham Forest; and to the south-east is Newham. Historically, this river has formed a boundary between the former counties of Middlesex and Essex.

Hackney Town Hall is about 5 miles (8 km) north-east of Charing Cross; and 3.8 miles (6.1 km) from the GLA City Hall near Tower Bridge.
